We grew entirely by word of mouth. That shaped everything.
Every client so far came through a referral, and none of them has left. No paid acquisition, no sales floor, no volume play. A company that only grows by referral has to be good at the part after the sale, because that is the only part that generates the next client.
Building is easy now. Engineering is what survives.
Writing code was the hard part for twenty years. That changed quickly, and most of the industry has not caught up. Generating software is cheap now. Software that survives real customers, real load and real attackers is not.
Design went the same way. Tools made it easy and good designers became more valuable, not less. The engineers who benefit are the ones who rebuilt how they work rather than bolting a tool onto the old way.
That is who we look for and train.
Two people who ran this arrangement before selling it

Alexander Bothe
Co-founder, United States
Has spent his career scaling US startups, close enough to hiring to know how badly it works. He was the buyer in this arrangement for years before he sold it to anyone, which is why the terms read the way they do. He owns the training and assessment process, written down and run the same way for everyone.

Muhammad Waqas
Co-founder, Pakistan
A senior engineer who joined one of those teams mid-expansion and ended up the one it ran on. Working from Pakistan, he saw what actually stops good engineers from working with US companies: contracts nobody will honour, payments that arrive late, and compliance neither side understands. Hireboard was his answer. We handle the contract, payroll and legal side in the engineer’s own country, so neither you nor they have to.
That is still how the company works. Engineers arrive through people we have worked with, they clear the same gates whoever referred them, and they own what they ship.
Four decisions that made the company what it is
ONE
No job board
The network is invite-only and always has been. It started with engineers our own leadership had worked with and would trust to run a company, then the people those engineers vouched for. Four hundred interviewed to find a top twenty.
TWO
Train before placing
Clearing four gates gets an engineer into training, not onto a client. Everyone is trained in-house first, on how we expect agents to be directed and what has to hold before code ships.
THREE
One price, said out loud
From $4,000 a month, all-in, covering salary, benefits, contracts and local compliance in the engineer’s country, and the AI tooling they work with. No platform fee, no deposit, and the number is on the site rather than behind a call.
FOUR
Easy to leave
Nothing invoiced until day 8, free swaps until you are happy, and a month-to-month contract. Referral growth only works if leaving is easy and nobody does.
